Our Team

The Midwifery Philosophy

All people deserve access to individualized, good quality, evidence-based prenatal care. Our mission is to care, educate, and support the pregnant person and help them achieve healthy outcomes. Trinisha is an experienced clinician, utilizing medical intervention only when necessary while respecting pregnancy and birth as a normal physiological life. This philosophy is based on the belief that healthy people can give birth naturally and with little to no intervention. Well-trained midwives respect your individuality and together we will work in unison to create the special birth experience you and your family desire. Prenatal visits are also a time to get to know you, answer your questions, and share information. We encourage your active participation in decisions regarding your pregnancy and birth. The whole family is welcome to participate in prenatal care and birth. We will do everything possible to give you the special birth experience.

Why Fight With US?

yOU SHOULD KNOW

In NYC, Black People are up to 12 times more likely to die giving birth than their white counterparts.
Overwhelmed hospitals faced PPE shortages, staffing shortages, denied birthing people their basic rights of companionship during birth, and sent patients home with almost no follow up postpartum care, even leading to the death of one black mother. NY State has the 11th highest c-section rate in the U.S. We must prioritize our limited hospital resources for those 15% of high-risk clients that require it. Check our drop-down’s below!

Birth Centers specialize in serving healthy low-risk clients, with fewer medical interventions, allowing for affordable birthing services focusing on: Prevention, Education, and Wellness While Offering and Accepting: Sliding scale services & Payment plans, Insurance and Medicaid,  nobody turned away for inability to pay, or for lack of insurance

Evidence-based approach to offer high quality, high touch, personalized care. Birth Centers have proven to have excellent outcomes in: reducing cesarean section rates, reducing maternal and infant mortality, increasing breastfeeding rates, and empowering birthing people to report high satisfaction in their experiences. Birth Centers have proven to have excellent outcomes in a reduce in cesarean section rates, reduction in maternal and infant mortality and an increase in breastfeeding rates.

Holistic education and community outreach programs including Yoga, Doula Services, Meetups, Education, Workshops, Massage, Acupuncture, Pelvic Floor Therapy, Chiropractor, and Baby and Development.

Birth Centers with Midwifery services offer Primary Care. Full scope of services from contraception counseling and annual exams to fertility counseling, IUI inseminations, prenatal, birth and postpartum care, breastfeeding support, newborn care, and beyond

Address racial disparities in maternal mortality by prioritizing the leadership, hiring and training Black and People of Color Midwives, Assistants, and Staff. Include sensitive, quality healthcare and counseling for the LGBTQ community, and prioritizing gender non-confirming and trans people’s birthing needs. A safe space to provide counseling services, trauma informed care, sexual assault forensic exams, and rape kit tests for survivors of rape and domestic violence with dignity.

NYC has only 2 out of the 345 Birth Centers in the U.S.
The U.S. is the only rich country where the rate of maternal mortality is increasing.
There are zero midwife-led birth centers in NYC.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, due to lack of out-of-hospital birth options, those who could afford to, left NYC to give birth or switched to birth centers and home birth practices.
